Luton & District Moto X Meet
16th April 2009
It's been ages since I last updated this site, motorsports have been on the back burner over the winter months with most of my time been taken up with my wildlife photography.
Thankfully the British Superbike season has now started, although work commitments meant I was going to miss the first round which was held at Brands Hatch over the Easter Bank holiday. I did however get a bit of free time to photograph my mate who was competing in his first ever Motocross event.
Being an ex racer myself I was keen to see how Digs got on in his first ever meeting. The turn out was very impressive too, with each group having plenty of bikes to fill the start gates. Digs was in the 40+ group which had a total of 30 riders, quite a big field for your first ever meeting but he was soon into the swing of things and looked to be enjoying
it....
Digs on his KTM 250 No 166

Digs had a couple of mates competing in the same group too.
Mark Stephens Kawasaki 250 No 186 and David Holes KTM 450 No 666

Digs did pretty well for his first meeting and I'm sure he'll improve the more meetings he takes part in...
The Expert group was the best to photograph with some very fast riders in it. I recognised one name in this group, Paul Edge, I used to ride with his dad Alan.
I hadn't seen Alan for 16 years, the last time I owned a Motocross bike. I had a quick chat with him and then made my way out onto the track for the start of the Expert race.
The racing was a lot closer in this group meaning you could get some nice action shots.

Paul Edge Honda 450 No 1

Number 41 won 2 out of the 3 races in the Expert class with some fine riding but he was always pushed hard by number 7 who eventually won the last race of the day.

Number 7 on his way to a win.

It was very close though.

I enjoyed the meeting and it was good to take some motorsport images for a change, downside, I want another Motocross bike which can only end in tears..
Here's a few more shots from the day.

Thanks for looking.
